About Gorwel

Every course sits on land that was shaped over millennia. We use the same 1-metre resolution survey data the Environment Agency uses to map flood risk and coastal erosion — and we draw what the land actually looks like beneath the fairways.

The elevation data is processed through a contour-generation pipeline that renders every dune ridge, every hollow, every undulation the eye misses from the first tee. Dark green ink on off-white cotton rag paper. No illustration. No artistic interpretation. Just terrain, drawn from data.

Each print carries a verified data strip — established year, par, yardage, architect, and course type — with every field cross-referenced against club records, architectural archives, and the UK Golf API. If a field can't be verified against at least two independent sources, it doesn't appear.

We judge every print against one bar: would it hold its own in a gallery? If it doesn't pass, it doesn't exist. The prints you see on this site are the ones that survived.

The name Gorwel is Welsh for "horizon."
